Master Cycle Chapter Updates

Hello Master Cycle students. Please make sure to always read this page at least 1x per week

Update: 6/11

Unbelievable class last Saturday. Tons of details on mount escapes and concepts. We will continue to play “keep and escape mount” games. Sometimes you must detach from a position and accept the fact you are losing mount. Then we take the next best position.

  • What structure or posture would you take when you mount a skilled opponent, unskilled opponent, or an opponent with a weapon?

  • 32 Principles tonight (Wednesday) Pyramid. Next Wednesday will be Creation.

Saturday: Rapid Mastery Drills and Focus Sparring.

Monday: Fight Sim (No-Gi Training) - Master Cycle Fundamentals (MCF)

Monday: Evening- RD Class (GC) , Morning Class - MCF-32 Principles

Tuesday: Rapid Master Drills - Jiu Jitsu Games

Wednesday:Combatives at Noon - 32 Principles at 6:30pm

Thursday:  Focus Sparring

Rapid Mastery Class

The objective of each Rapid Mastery Class is to conduct position-specific training exercises to strengthen reflexes in the execution of the techniques from the chapter of study.

 Focus Sparring Class

The objective of each Focus Sparring Class is to conduct a variety of live sparring exercises at various intensity levels so that students can increase their confidence in the transitions and combination between the techniques from the current chapter of study and previously explored chapters.

Fight Simulation Class / Master Cycle Fundamentals (MFC)

The objective of each Fight Simulation Class is to build the student’s confidence that the techniques really do work in real fights. We achieve this by having the students conduct live Fight Simulation training exercises in which they perform their techniques against a striking opponent.

MFC: Each Monday will focus on a new chapter from MC Stripe 1 and 2.

Reflex Development Class (RD)

All students must complete a minimum of 10 RD classes before next ranking. RD class is every Monday at 6:30pm.

32 Principles /Rapid Mastery

If jiu-jitsu were a tree, the trunk would represent the fundamental techniques that you would need in a street fight against an untrained opponent. The branches represent the advanced techniques that you would use to overcome an opponent who is also trained in jiu-jitsu. The entire tree, however, is made possible by the roots which represent the 32 “Micro Principles” that make all of jiu-jitsu work the way it does. We cover one primary Principle each class, but it is impossible not to see other Principles involved. This is the ultimate research class.

Current Chapter: Mount - Start Date: May 1st

Gracie Combatives and Gracie Combatives 2.0: Gracie University highly recommends helping GC students during their class. You can partner up with someone or walk around and help out. Students who are consistent and have minimum 2 Stripes on their Blue Belt can be invited to be a C4 Coach.

C4 Assistant Coach and Mat Helpers:

  • All Master Cycle Students can step on the mat and help GC students any class.

  • When you arrive for class, please step on the mat and help out the class before you if it is a GC class.

  • Only students that have been invited to be a C4 Assistant Coach and have taken the mini teaching seminar get a Blue C4 Card and earn "money" every time you step on the mat to help.

  • C4 Assistants who do not attend and help on the mat consistently will be removed from C4 status. You can still help anytime you want, but you do not get a "Blue Money Card"
